Which NBA player has won the most championships? We take a look through history to find out who has the most NBA rings.
10T. Michael Jordan (6)
Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest player of all time and he led the Bulls to six championships. Had it not been for his professional baseball sojourn, it’s a real possibility he could have had another two rings.
Jordan’s six NBA rings are arguably the most impressive haul in terms of how they were won and their meaningfulness. The two three-peats quite possibly saved the Bulls with the franchise at one stage threatening to relocate to Kansas City.
10T. Kareem Abdul Jabbar (6)
Like Jordan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won six NBA championships and his devastating skyhook deserves to be the next NBA logo. He was the league’s all-time leading scorer from 1984 until LeBron James passed him in 2023.
Abdul-Jabbar won his first title with the Milwaukee Bucks in 1971, and won his next five NBA rings with the Los Angeles Lakers. He led the league in scoring twice, was a 19-time All-Star and 11-time All-Defensive Team member.
10T. Scottie Pippen (6)
Scottie Pippen is the greatest of all sidekicks, even though it’s a title he may not have warmed to. Alongside Jordan, Pippen helped the Bulls to six NBA championships and earned 10 All-Defensive Team honors in his 17-year career. In his own right, he’s one of the basketballers and wing defenders we’ve ever seen and was more than just a sidekick.
10T. Bob Cousy (6)
Tied alongside Jordan, Abdul Jabbar and Pippen with six NBA rings is Bob Cousy. One of the first NBA superstars, Cousy was part of the Celtics’ dynasty through the 1950s and 60s. He earned All Star honors in all 13 seasons with the Celtics and led the league in assists eight times.
7T. Frank Ramsey (7)
Playing alongside Bob Cousy was forward/guard Frank Ramsey, and he was one of the early pioneers of the “sixth man” role. Ramsey finished his career with an average of 13.4 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, and won seven NBA championships in a nine-year career with the Celtics.
7T. Robert Horry (7)
Robert Horry’s 7 NBA championships played for four NBA teams over a 17-year career and won NBA Titles with three of them. He was an All-Rookie Team member with the Rockets out of Alabama in 1992-93. A role player off the bench for much of his career, Horry averaged 7 points and 4.8 rebounds over 1107 career games.
7T. Jim Loscutoff (7)
Jim Loscutoff’s seven rings has him tied with Robert Horry and Frank Ramsey on our list of players with the most NBA championships. Similarly to Ramsey, the forward was a role player averaging 6.2 points and 5.6 rebounds in his nine seasons with the Celtics.
3T. Tom Heinsohn (8)
Six-time All-Star Tom Heinsohn won 8 NBA championships across a 9-season career, only failing to win the 1957-58 season which the St. Louis Hawks won. Heinsohn averaged over 20 points per game three times, and at least ten rebounds twice.
3T. John Havlicek (8)
Havlicek was one of the most durable and consistent players in the NBA during his 16 seasons, all with the Celtics, where he won eight rings. Drafted out of Ohio State, Havlicek was a member of the 1962-63 All-Rookie team, and was a 13-time All-Star who averaged over 20 points per game eight straight seasons.
3T. K.C. Jones (8)
Another beneficiary of the Celtics’ dynasty, K.C Jones won eight straight titles with the Celtics, playing his entire nine-year career in Boston. Jones averaged at least 30 minutes per game over his last four seasons, and he averaged 7.4 points per game.
3T. Tom Sanders (8)
Tom Sanders was selected by the Celtics out of NYU and played his entire 13-year career in Boston. Another benefactor to the Celtics’ dynasty, he was a solid contributor at forward. He averaged double digits in scoring in nine consecutive seasons, and retired with averages of 9.6 points and 6.3 rebounds.
2. Sam Jones (10)
Sam Jones won 10 NBA titles in his 12 seasons in the NBA, again, all won with the Boston Celtics dynasty. It’s a true testament to the dynasty that they were able to keep the playing group mostly the same for so long.
Jones a five-time All-Star and three-time first team All-NBA.He averaged at least 20 points per game as a shooting guard in four of his last five NBA seasons., and retired with an average of 17.7 points.
1. Bill Russell (11)
Bill Russell is one of the best NBA players of all time and has the most championships of any player with 11 titles. This list is dominated by Celtics players of the 1950s and 60s dynasty and many of them have Russell to thank.
He won his 11 NBA rings in a career spanning only 13 years, and he averaged an impressive 15.1 points and 22.5 rebounds. The winningest player in NBA history, Russell dominated on the defensive end and his record of 11 NBA championships is a record that will seemingly never be broken.
