With the world’s most watched football league well underway, we thought we thought we’d take a look at the best Premier League players in 2024. We considered performance factors including goals scored, assists, pass completion percentages and clean sheets. So, without further ado let’s take a look at the best Premier League players so far in the 2023/24 season.
7. Alisson Becker
Alisson Becker is dependable and consistent and has arguably been the best goalkeeper in the world for the past couple of seasons. He continues to be a brick wall for the Liverpool defence and has made a habit of making key saves at crucial moments.
Despite the Brazilian only managing one clean sheet this season, many fans can agree that Alisson between the posts equates to more points for Liverpool.
6. Cristian Romero
Tottenham’s centre-back Cristian Romero has a reputation for being a rash defender who rushes into tackles and someone who dangerously mistimes challenges. To his credit he’s been able to change that narrative in the 2023/2024 campaign.
Romero and his team have started the season in surprising form benefiting from a fresh start under new manager Ange Postecoglou. Romero has been a big part of Tottenham’s form. His defensive stats are very impressive and he’s currently ranking in the top percentiles for tackles, goals conceded, clearances and shots blocked:
5. Rodri
Manchester City’s Rodri has taken his game to greater heights in the 2023/2024 season and he’s increased his goal scoring contributions for the team. His winning goal in last season’s UEFA Champions League final appears to have been just the start of his transition towards becoming a complete midfielder.

Despite the departure of former Manchester City captain İlkay Gündoğan, Rodri has done a remarkably good job of holding the midfield together and attacking the top end of the pitch with gusto.
Rodri is also proving to be one of the best Premier League players in 2024 and averages above 110 passes per match, showing just how big a role he plays in controlling proceedings in the middle of the park and helping Manchester City dominate games.
4. Bukayo Saka
Arsenal right winger Bukayo Saka is a crucial part of the Gunners set up week in week out, and he’s definitely capable of kicking his performance to the next level. Defenders struggle to keep up with Saka’s explosive bursts which typically involves cutting inside from the right-hand channel into space before getting a shot off.
His goal against Nottingham Forest is a perfect example which you can check out below:

Saka’s left foot is deadly and his presence on the pitch is absolutely crucial to Arsenal’s free flowing attacking play. He’s able to draw the attention of opposition defenders leaving team mates unmarked in advanced areas.
3. Julian Alvarez
At only 23, Julian Alvarez has already won the FIFA World Cup with Argentina, and a treble with Manchester City which included the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and FA Cup.
Julian has fulfilled the second striker role behind team mate Erling Haaland and he’s been key to breaking down defenses and helping unlock Haaland. Pep Guardiola has continued to show his faith in Alvarez thanks to his work-rate and efficiency in front of goal.
2. Mohamed Salah
With a recent whirlwind of speculation surrounding a proposed transfer to the Saudi Pro League, Mohamed Salah has since remained committed to Liverpool and the Premier League.
Salah’s been in his typical creative form and continues to rack up the assists. The departures of Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane has had an impact on Liverpool’s attack but Salah continues to fill that void.
1. Erling Haaland
Erling Haaland is from another planet and his goal scoring exploits last season was one of the greatest seasons ever. The Norwegian netted an astonishing 52 goals in 53 competitive matches. In the Premier League he found the back of the net 36 times in 35 appearances, a new record for most goals in a Premier League season.
Haaland’s continued where he left off in the 2023/2024 season with a brace against Burnley away from home on opening day, and a hat trick at home to Fulham. Without a doubt Haaland is the best Premier League player in 2024 and it’s not even close. Can anybody challenge Haaland?
