Take a look at the NFL biggest rivalries and you’ll get context on the most hated NFL teams. They’re teams that we cannot stand because they keep winning, they cheat, or our parents told us that they’re to be eternally hated.
We may never have even met their fan base but they’re arrogant, loud, obnoxious, and the worst people. Let’s take a look at the most hated NFL teams that bring out the worst in us.
10. Las Vegas Raiders
Many fans hate the Raiders because of the overly aggressive fan base. Maybe it’s the Raider Nations elaborate costumes and intensity that is intimidating and giving people the wrong idea. Their move to Vegas drew more hate even from their own fan base but fans still make the trip from Oakland to watch the Raiders play.
9. New Orleans Saints
Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat dem Saints? If that’s not enough to annoy you, how about the fact Sean Payton is one of the highest paid NFL coaches even after Bountygate?
If winning Super Bowl XLIV on the back of paying Saints players for injuring opposition players isn’t enough to make you hate a team, then you’re just not passionate enough.
8. New York Giants
The bigger the market you play in, the more haters you’re going to have. Simply put, that’s why the New York Giants are one of the most hated NFL teams. As for the Jets, Aaron Rodgers Achilles tear on just his fourth snap in New York makes you kinda feel sorry for them.
7. Washington Commanders
The Commanders have a big rivalry with the Cowboys and Eagles, but former owner Dan Snyder built one of the most hated NFL teams with one of the worst ownership runs.
Even Washington fans hate the Commanders. FedExField is falling apart, and fans don’t even like the Commanders name. Josh Harris has a massive task of changing Washington’s culture after buying the franchise from Snyder.
6. Chicago Bears
Ask Bears fans and they’ll tell you there’s a hate agenda from the national media on their beloved football team. Chicago has been a punchline of late, mediocre for the best part of the last decade.
The catch-22 here is if the Bears can start winning more games of football, they’ll attract even more haters.
5. Green Bay Packers
The Packers have huge rivalries with the Bears and Vikings. They’re one of the most hated teams across the league and have been blessed to have had back-to-back Hall of Fame quarterbacks in Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers himself is one of the most hated NFL players in recent times, a perfect representation of the Packers before he left to the Jets.
4. Philadelphia Eagles
Ask Eagles fans and they’ll tell you they’re the most passionate fan base in the NFL. Ask anyone else and there’s no fans that are more obnoxious.
Who can forget when Eagles fans erupted when Michael Irvin went down with a career ending injury? Eagles fans will even boo Santa Claus, because they can.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are tied with the Patriots for the most Super Bowls with six. The Steelers are also one of the most popular teams, and many of those fans will obnoxiously remind you how many championships they’ve won.
Anybody else think the “Terrible Towel” waving is annoying? Maybe we’re just envious of Steeler Nation and Pittsburgh’s success.
2. New England Patriots
The Tom Brady-Bill Belichick dominance is enough to make you hate football, with the Patriots winning six champions in 18 seasons, a record for Most Super Bowls.
And if that’s not enough for you to hate the Patriots, add Deflategate and Spygate into the mix and can see why the Patriots are arguably the most hated NFL team.
1. Dallas Cowboys
You either love or hate them. That’s why the Cowboys are the most popular NFL team, and the most hated. Being “America’s Team” draws envy, and some of the greatest players ever have played in Dallas. They also play out of one of the best NFL stadiums just to make things even worse.
The Cowboys arrogance is epitomised by Jerry Jones. He knows he has the highest valued NFL franchise, and he has an ego to match it.
